Erlend Øye's Fireside Chat

"One thing I really like in life is to make people dance. I love to be the guy that comes into the party and realises 'oh..I think everyone wants to dance but they are just too shy to dance!' - and so I start dancing on the dancefloor on my own and ... after they see me dancing around it feels much safer for them to go there!'
Whitest Bergen boy alive, King of convenience and emperor of dreaminess Erland Oye talks about getting into music, deejaying and the different bands he's been with - and there's a bunch of his solo,  KOC and WBA tracks thrown in. Very chilled, apart from the Kakkmaddafakka track!

Underworld's Fireside Chat

"We thought, wouldn't it be great to be a band that doesn't destroy the vibe?"

NICE! Underworld did a Fireside Chat for RBMA Radio. Karl Hyde talks about their early career, mistakes they made and how they became the band we know today.  Really interesting to hear about early rave culture, the influence of travel and New York on their music, the progression of their career, all with a load of their tunes thrown in!

Q-Tip's Red Bull Fireside Chat radio show

Feeling a little seedy post Paddy's day weekend? Let the soothing tones of Q-Tip's voice flow over you and cure what ails you. Q-Tip knew about age 12 when he was making tapes that he was going to be a producer. He talks about his youth and early career and plays some of the tracks that influenced him, and about when he met Dilla for the first time, his solo stuff, how he got really into jazz and lost 20,000 records in a fire. SO interesting. Great radio. And lots of Tribe. What a ledge.

Nile Rodgers' Red Bull Fireside Chat radio show

So there's a lot of Nile Rodgers buzz going around due to the current Daft Punk mania, but let's get one thing straight: the man was being a total ledge well before Daft Punk ever got their shiny robot mitts on him:

If you can't see the box above, click here.

Tracklist
1 Funny Bone (Unreleased Outtake) - Chic
2 Everybody Dance (12" Mix) - Chic
3 Dance Dance Dance (Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah) (12" Mix) - Chic
4 Savoir Faire - Chic
5 Good Times - Chic
6 Upside Down (Unreleased Chic Mix) - Diana Ross
7 We Are Family - Sister Sledge

9 Let‘s Dance - David Bowie
10 The Wild Boys (Wilder Than Wild Boys) (Extended Mix) - Duran Duran
11 Like A Virgin - Madonna

13 Why (Extended Version) - Carly Simon
14 My Feet Keep Dancing - Chic

There is also a one hour BBC documentary about Nile called "The Hit Maker" I posted about a good while ago, check it out here. And if that's not enough for you, I'd also recommend reading his autobiography 'Le Freak' - although he is so sound he never really dishes as much dirt as I'd like him too, considering what he must have seen and gotten up to himself.

Nile plays with Chic on the Sunday of Forbidden Fruit - get tickets here.

I've posted other similarly sweet Red Bull radio shows where artists talk about their influences and careers, check out shows by Chromeo, Mayer Hawthorne, Holy Ghost!, Kim Ann Foxman, Breakbot or The Rapture.
