I'm a huge fan of Har Mar's vibe and voice. If you don't know his stuff you should check him out for sure. My favourite tunes of his (so far, haven't had time to let the new album sink in yet) are Tall Boy and Lady You Shot Me. They are completely different but just show his range and how god damn awesome he is.

The Current also got him in to do a live version of the track 'How Did I Get Through The Day' - what a performance!



And 'Youth Without Love':

Palmbomen II

So this album from Kai Hugo's solo project is coming out soon on Tim Sweeney's Beats In Space label. It is fucking deadly and you can stream it on RA's soundcloud below. All the tracks have sweet names, my current favourite it Vic Trevino. Serious tune.

Sunset Blood - the debut album by Starcadian

"I make ear movies" - very apt description of these tunes

My mate Stu over at the deadly www.wunderground.ie got me onto this album 'Sunset Blood' by Starcadian. It is basically my dream music. Synthy, 80s dance vibes with space lasers and robot voices, and amazing, gorgeous disco-ey tunes, and then some epic movie music near the end. At the risk of being lazy and reductive I'm just going to say that if you like Breakbot, or Daft Punk's Discovery album, or Drive, or Lasertom's debut album I posted about recently, you should check this out. (If you don't like any of those things, you are probably in the wrong bit of the internet.)

Drift - the debut album by Lasertom

So, I don't usually write much on here, I prefer to let the music speak for itself. It should go without saying that if it's on Swooner, I think it's ace. But every once in a while something comes along and 'I think it's ace' is an insufficient amount of words to describe it. The album 'Drift' by Lasertom is one such thing. So here are some other words: Beats. Space lasers. Beautiful. Darker beats. Epic. Layers. More space lasers. Groove. Dance. Repeat.

It's rare for me these days to be taken with an album in its entirety as opposed to just liking a few tracks. And although I have my favourite songs on it (No Play and Norwegian Pine today), Drift as a whole is quite moreish and satisfying and seems almost cinematic in its cosmic journey. Reminiscent of some of Lindstrøm's tunes (albeit less frantic than most of his) it could be the soundtrack to an amazing space movie - à la Interstellar 5555.

So yes, it is way more than ace. But now. Enough words! Use your ears! Decide for yourself:

I saw Lasertom (aka Dublin's Simon Cullen,) live at Body and Soul last summer and it was definitely one of my highlights. If you ever get a chance to check him out I'd highly recommend it.
