ZImmer: Brighter Days January mix

Disco-Parisien Zimmer reminds us that it won't be winter forever with this dreamy, happy, light mix. Catchy and up-beat tunes throughout; if you like any of the Aeroplane or Moshigogo mixes you will dig this. Loving that 'Rock Solid' tune with vocals from Stee Downes:

More Compuphonic: January 2013 mix

I was in my car earlier today listening to Compuphonic's mix from last Spring and thought 'it's a crying shame he has stopped making these monthly mixes' - then I came home to find this new mix just out! Further proof that I am in fact, clairvoyant. Although I thought that every time I listened to a Compuphonic mix, which was a LOT, so it was bound to happen one day. Some extremely sweet house tunes for your listening pleasure:

Stream Tiga's latest 6 Music show

"Let's try some atonal mixing.. It takes a real man to mix out of key"

As usual, Tiga's 2 hour BBC 6 music mix is pretty banging. Sadly, Tiga resolves to talk less this show, although the letter he reads from his future self gets pretty deep. Most importantly the tunes remain whopper. Tracks from Justice, Duke Dumont (including an excellent Tiga remix of 'The Giver'), Four Tet, Daniel Avery, Hot Chip, that awesome Talabot / Pional remix of Chained by The XX, and as usual some great tracks by artists I've never heard of before. Of particular note is the track 'De La Cabeza' by DJs Pareja on the Comeme label at around the 1'05" mark.

Foals new tune 'My Number'

This song is my current new obsession. The official video is amazing, all trippy and high energy, and the people in it are all fans the band invited down on the day. On repeat, no sign of stopping.

This is a live version they recorded at Abbey Road, without the video interruptions:

P.S. This video is a beautiful cover version Foals did of Tears For Fears 'Everybody Wants To Rule The World' that my friend Oisin showed me yesterday. It's really gorgeous:

Foals are playing The Academy on Friday March 1st. Get tickets here.
Their new album 'Holy Fire' is out February 11th - more info and preorder here.

Breakbot mini mix - DJ set at Le Mouv'

I found a Breakbot remix from 2010 that I hadn't heard before and it led me to this set from a French radio station (I think) called Le Mouv'. It's 30 minutes of Breakbot disco-pop buzz with tunes from Kindness, Tensnake, Roy Ayers and The Swiss (see below):

Also on that page is a live version of my favourite Breakbot tune, 'Baby I'm Yours' with just Irfane singing to Breakbot's keyboard. I got an acute case of Dreamboat-itis just listening to it twice in a row so be careful:

The remix I hadn't heard before was this one, what a tune:

Okimi's portraits

For $50 you can get your profile portrait done with an animal of your choice on your shoulder by Japanese illustrator Okimi. If I had a pet or even a spirit guide I'd be all over this. One of those guys chose a cat with 3-D glasses, definite spirit guide territory. Last day to order is March 31st 2013.
